Why Vegan

Why vegan, one might ask....

Life is Precious.
A vegan lifestyle is one that recognizes that life is precious. This extends from a lifestyle without exploiting animals, to nourishing our own bodies in a way that shows respect. Vegans eat a plant-based diet, devoid of all animal products. With the curtain being lifted on factory farming, many have adopted a vegan lifestyle in response to the often abhorrent methods used to produce meat.
It’s Good for the Environment
By switching to a plant-based diet one can greatly diminish their eco-footprint. A recent study by the University of Chicago found that the typical US diet generates nearly 1.5 tons more carbon dioxide per person per year than a vegan diet. As well, the livestock industry contributes 18% of global greenhouse gas missions, more than the entire transportation sector. By going vegan, we can help prevent global warming, rain forest destruction, and pollution, while saving water and other precious resources.
It’s Good for you!
Meat consumption has been linked to a variety of health concerns such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity. A recent British study found that switching to a vegan diet may cut your chances of eventually developing heart disease by 32%. A plant-based diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains also means consuming less cholesterol and saturated fats and more vitamins, nutrients, and fiber.
It’s Delicious!
Eating a vegan diet can open your taste buds to all new horizons! Not only is it delicious, but you can leave behind the “heavy” feeling of a meat-based meal. Also, many foods have vegan alternatives, making it easy to adopt a vegan diet without sacrificing taste.
